TOPIC: WORK & STUDY – PHRASAL VERBS

Hôm nay học một số Phrasal Verbs rất hay về chủ đề Study & Work nhé (Và tất nhiên có thể nói cho rất nhiều topics khác)

  • pile up = increase in amount (gia tăng)

E.g: The applications for the new manager position are piling up. I’d better start looking through them.

 

  • plug away (at sth) = work hard to achieve sth difficult (làm việc chăm chỉ để đạt được cái gì (khó khăn))

E.g: She was struggling to finalize the company’s accounts, but she kept plugging away at them.

 

  • slog away (at sth) = work very hard for a long time (làm việc chăm chỉ một thời gian dài)

E.g: Jennie’s been slogging away trying to finish writing her presentation.

 

  • slack off = avoid hard work (lười biếng, làm việc ít chăm chỉ đi)

E.g: He used to be very proactive, but he’s been slacking off lately.

 

  • catch up on = spend extra time doing sth because you have not done it earlier (dành thêm thời gian làm việc gì (vì bạn chưa làm nó sớm)) 

E.g: She has been on vacation for two weeks, so she has a lot of work to catch up on.

 

  • knuckle down = start to work very hard (bắt đầu làm việc chăm chỉ)

E.g: I’ve got lots to do! I need to knuckle down and get it finished.

 

  • soldier on = continue trying to achieve sth despite difficulties (tiếp tục cố gắng làm gì (dù cho khó khăn))

E.g: We’ll just have to soldier on till we finish the job.
