IELTS SPEAKING PART 2: Describe an activity that you do after school/work

Describe an activity that you do after school/work

You should say

  • What it is
  • When and where you do it
  • Who you do it with
  • And how you feel about it

Well, an activity that I like to do after work is cycling. So, I usually ride my bicycle in a vast space within walking distance of my flat, and that is where I can meet a bunch of cycling enthusiasts.

Riding my bicycle regularly can help to improve my cardiovascular fitness because it can increase the presence of good cholesterol in the body and lower my blood pressure. Therefore, the more I cycle, the healthier my heart tends to be. Besides, cycling is primarily a terrific way to reduce stress levels. You know, those who ride a bike just 30 minutes every day can be happier and more positive compared with those who don’t ride at all. On top of that, unlike running, which is a high-impact form of exercise, cycling is incredibly gentle on people’s joints. It’s also a very safe way to remain healthy and physically active without aggravating their painful arthritic joints.

I’m usually up to my ears in work, so sometimes I find it hard to summon up the energy to do strenuous exercise these days. However, my sedentary lifestyle can cause me to pile on the pounds, so instead of spending time surfing the Internet in the evenings, I’m trying my utmost to cycle frequently to keep me in good shape.
